Kilworth GAA Club Notes 23 April 2026
OFFICIAL OPENING CEREMONY
Kilworth GAA Club extends a very warm invitation to all members and the wider community to join us for the official opening of our new clubhouse, community gym, and upgraded pitch facilities. The celebration will take place on Saturday, May 16th, from 3.00pm to 6.00pm at Kilworth GAA Club, and we are honoured that An tUachtarán CLG, Jarlath Burns, along with other distinguished guests, will join us to perform the official opening ceremony.
The development of these facilities represents a major milestone for both the club and the wider community. It is a testament to the dedication, hard work, and commitment shown by so many over recent years, and we are delighted to celebrate this achievement with everyone who has contributed and supported our vision along the way.
This will be a fantastic opportunity to showcase our new facilities, unite as a club and community, and celebrate this important milestone, while recognising the valued support we have received from so many people. We sincerely hope everyone can join us for what promises to be a memorable and enjoyable afternoon.
RECENT WEATHER DISRUPTS FIXTURES
Unfortunately, both of last week’s hurling league fixtures were postponed due to the recent spell of adverse weather. The junior hurling league third-round fixture against Araglen was called off as a result of a waterlogged pitch in Araglen, while the intermediate third-round clash with Ballyhea was also deferred after both clubs deemed their pitches unplayable.
Also, regrettably, this week’s junior hurling league fixture against Fermoy was postponed as a mark of respect following a local bereavement. These fixtures will now be rearranged for a later date.
WEEKLY CLUB LOTTO
There was no winner of last week’s lotto jackpot of €5,000 held on Monday April 13th. The numbers drawn were: 14, 16, 27, & 31. The lucky dip winner of €50 was Eileen O’Keeffe c/o Online. The lucky dip winners of €25 each were Maura Condon c/o Mossy McNamara, Paddy Whelan c/o Mossy McNamara, & Noel Howard c/o Online. The jackpot prize on Monday April 20th is €5,200.
Tickets cost just €2 each or three lines for €5 and they are available online, in the local business outlets, or from your usual local sellers. As always, we would like to thank you for your ongoing support.
VOTES OF SYMPATHY
Kilworth GAA Club extends its deepest and most sincere sympathies to the Whelan, McCarthy, and Glavin families, following the sad and sudden passing of Paddy Whelan, RIP. Paddy was a much-valued member of our club, serving with distinction as Vice‑President and formerly as Club Secretary and Mentor. He was a devoted husband to Mary, and a proud father to Liam, our current club player. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mary, Liam, and Dara, together with the extended Whelan, McCarthy, and Glavin families at this incredibly difficult time. May his gentle soul rest in eternal peace.
The club would also like to extend its deepest sympathies to the Condon families, Araglen/Kilworth following their recent bereavement.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anamacha dílse.
