NO JOY FOR JUNIOR HURLERS
Last Saturday evening September 19th, our Junior hurlers travelled to Killavullen to contest Newtownshandrum in the final of the Denis Gallagher Air Conditioning Services sponsored 2026 Junior B2 Hurling Championship. Playing with the advantage of the breeze in the opening half, Kilworth were initially slow out of the blocks, however, two goals midway through the half from the sticks of corner forward Daniel O’Regan and half forward Ryan Jordan helped Kilworth take control as the half progressed which ensured Kilworth held the upper hand over last year’s champions at the interval as they led by six points on a scoreline of 2-09 to 0-09.
Newtownshandrum however hit to ground running upon the restart and quickly set about reducing the deficit. Six unanswered points inside the opening eleven minutes of the second half brought the sides level and completely changed the complexion of the contest. Kilworth battled hard in an effort to regain the initiative but despite their best efforts it was Newtownshandrum who held the upper hand in the latter stages of this game as they found the crucial scores down the stretch, eventually pulling clear to claim the title by four points. CLUB LOTTO REACHES €5,000
There was no winner of last week’s lotto jackpot of €4,800 held on Monday September 14th. The numbers drawn were: 22, 28, 29, & 32. The lucky dip winner of €50 was Catherina McLennon c/o Centra. The lucky dip winners of €25 each were Pat O’Brien c/o Online, Tommy, Indie, Sonnie, Ollie c/o Centra, & Shane O’Sullivan c/o Online. The jackpot prize on Monday September 21st is €5,000.
