FOOTBALLERS PROGRESS TO CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL
Last Saturday evening September 26th, our Junior footballers travelled to Kildorrery to contest Araglen in their final group game of the Walsh’s Pharmacy sponsored Junior B1 Football Championship. Credit must go to the Kildorrery club, who had both the venue and playing surface presented in superb condition for this championship encounter. Playing against a strong breeze in the opening half, Kilworth settled quickly and produced some excellent football. A series of well-worked moves and well-taken scores saw them gradually take control of proceedings and their efforts were rewarded with a six-point advantage at the interval.
Kilworth carried that momentum into the second half, as they once again hit the ground running, adding quickly to their tally to further stretch their advantage. A solid, determined and well-motivated performance ensured they remained firmly in control throughout the remainder of the contest, as they deservedly sealed their place in the championship final. Full-time score: Kilworth 3-17, Araglen 1-09.
Team & scorers: Killian Heggtveitt, Michael Gowen, Kieran Lane, Gearoid Carey, Sean Murphy, Luke Carey 0-01, David Twomey, Eoin McGrath 1-02, Leo Coffey, Jamie Sheehan 1-01, Eoin Carey 1-07 (4-f), Ryan Jordan, Aaron Browne, Brian Sheehan 0-02 (2-f), & Liam Óg Hegarty 0-02. Substitutes used: Jeremy Saich 0-01, Michael Sheehan 0-01, & Ronan Fenton.
