Kilworth GAA Club Notes 09 July 2026

SUCCESS FOR U21 HURLERS
Last Friday evening, July 3rd, Kilworth travelled to Ballygiblin to take on St. Dominic’s in the opening round of the Country Clean Recycling U21 B North Cork Hurling Championship. Conditions at the venue were excellent, and Ballygiblin deserve great credit for having both their facilities and pitch in superb condition for the occasion. From the outset Kilworth turned in a strong display and led throughout this contest with a well-balanced side that combined both youthful talent with experienced campaigners. Despite the game being a somewhat stop-start affair at times, Kilworth maintained control for long periods with their strong collective work rate and teamwork proving decisive, as the experienced members of the team provided leadership and encouragement to the younger players throughout.
Holding a commanding 1-09 to 0-04 advantage at the interval, Kilworth resumed control upon the restart with Liam Óg Hegarty who lined out at centre-forward the standout performer, scoring an impressive 2-09, including two well-taken goals to spearhead the Kilworth attack. Credit however must go to St. Dominic’s, as they never threw in the towel and battled hard right to the end, but at the final whistle Kilworth emerged deserving eight-point winners as they booked their place in the semi-final. Full time score; Kilworth 2-16, St. Dominics 1-11. Referee; Denis Motherway, Ballygiblin.
