Kilworth GAA Club Notes 26 February 2026

MEMBERSHIP NOW DUE
Club membership for the 2026 season is now open on the GAA membership site “Foireann”, and we would ask that you pay your club membership as soon as possible. This coming season Kilworth GAA, Camogie, and LGFA clubs have collaborated together as a “One Membership Structure” in an effort to reduce costs on everyone across all clubs. All players and management teams must be fully paid-up members in advance of returning to training/matches, with March 31st the membership deadline date. If anyone has any questions or issues, please contact Kilworth GAA club registrar Rhona Heggtveit on 086-0863816.
The full list of membership rates for 2026 as per the new One Membership Structure are as follows: Adult Player €85, Student €70, Juvenile (U11-U18) €65, Juvenile (U10 and below) €45, OAP €20, Adult Non Player €65, Family 2+1 €155, Family 2+2 €195, Family 2+3/1+4 €225, Husband/Wife Player €95, Husband/Wife Non Player €75, Gaelic For M&O (LGFA only) €45.

2026 AVONDHU CHAMPIONSHIP DRAWS
The 2026 Avondhu GAA championship draws took place last Wednesday evening February 18th at the Mallow GAA complex with dates and venues for these fixtures to follow in the coming weeks.
The junior B(1) football championship consists of 7 teams split into 2 groups. Kilworth were drawn from the pot in group 1 alongside Araglen, Ballyhea, and Abbey Rovers which will be played in a round robin format with the top team from each group qualifying for the final.
The junior B(2) hurling championship consists of 8 teams split into 2 groups. Kilworth were again drawn from the pot in group 1 alongside Liscarroll/Churchtown Gaels, Ballyhea, and Buttevant which will be played in a round robin format with the top team from each group qualifying for the final.
The overall winners from both the junior B(1) and junior B(2) competitions will then play off to decide who will go forward to represent the division in the county series later in the season.
The U21 B football championship consists of 8 teams who will compete in a knock out style format. Kilworth were drawn against neighbours Mitchelstown in their quarter final contest with the winners progressing forward to play the winners of Buttevant and St. Dominics in the semi-final.
The U21 B hurling championship also consists of 8 teams who will compete in a knock out style format. Kilworth were drawn against last year’s beaten finalists St. Dominics in their quarter final contest with the winners progressing forward to play the winners of Ballygiblin and Kilshannig in the semi-final.

POSTPONEMENT
Unfortunately last Sundays fixture between Kilworth and Abbey Rovers in the Cavanagh’s of Fermoy division 3 football league was postponed due to an unplayable pitch and will now be rescheduled for a future date.

WEEKLY CLUB LOTTO
There was no winner of last week’s lotto jackpot of €3,400 held on Monday February 16th. The numbers drawn were: 15, 21, 23, & 24. The lucky dip winner of €50 was Marie Lawton c/o Centra. The lucky dip winners of €25 each were Joe Aherne JNR c/o Online, Carol Byrne c/o Online, & Eimear Walshe c/o Online. The jackpot prize on Monday February 23rd is €3,600.
Tickets cost just €2 each or three lines for €5 and they are available online, in the local business outlets, or from your usual local sellers. As always, we would like to thank you for your ongoing support.

ANNUAL GOLF CLASSIC
Save the date! The annual Kilworth GAA club Golf Classic will take place this year on Friday June 19th at Fermoy Golf Club. More details on this highly popular event will follow in the coming weeks.

CONGRATULATIONS
Comhghairdeas to Eoin McGrath who last weekend represented Cormac McAnellens GAA club in Sydney as they won the prestigious “Pearse’s 7’s” hurling competition which was played in Melbourne, Australia.

Kilworth GAA club would like to extend its deepest sympathies to the Hallahan/Magnier families, Newcestown/Ballyvourney/Kilworth, the Bartley families, Fermoy, and the Linehan families, Curraghagalla, Mitchelstown, following their recent bereavements.
