Kilworth GAA Club Notes 19 March 2026
WINNING START FOR INTERMEDIATE HURLERS
Kilworth intermediate hurlers were conquerors in their opening fixture of the Red FM Division 4 Hurling League against Blackrock which was played at Church Road last week on Tuesday evening March 10th. In a very evenly contested opening 30 minutes which saw both sides share the spoils throughout, Kilworth with very little hurling under their belt owing to the recent weather conditions, maintained a good account of themselves to leave just two points separating the sides upon Brian Dillons referee David Daly’s interval whistle. Half time score: Kilworth 0-08, Blackrock 0-10.
Kilworth excelled upon the restart registering some excellent scores from both play and placed balls, but it was an Eoin Carey goal midway through the second half that set the foundation for this well deserving four point victory. The Rockies goalkeeper must be credited for pulling off some great saves on the night, but it was a combination of great team discipline together with the contribution from the Kilworth bench that were key to this successful outing to the city suburb. Full time score: Kilworth 1-21, Blackrock 0-20.
Team and scorers: Killian Heggtveitt, Gearoid Carey, Kieran Lane, Austin O’Hara, Sean Óg Kenneally, David Twomey, Michael Gowen, Leo Coffey, Jeremy Saich, Liam Óg Hegarty 0-08, (5-f, 2-65”), Eoin Carey 1-08, Michael Sheehan, Noel McNamara, Jamie Sheehan 0-02, & Darragh Sheehan. Substitutes used: Brian Sheehan, Liam Whelan 0-01, Ryan Jordan 0-02, & Luke Carey.
TWO FROM TWO FOR JUNIOR FOOTBALLERS
Kilworth junior footballers continued their winning ways last Sunday morning as they were once again victors in their second round game of the Avondhu division 3 football league against Ballyclough. A dominant first half display of football by Kilworth set the tone for this 13 a side encounter and at the half time whistle the scoreline was 12 points in Kilworth’s favor (3-07 to 0-04) with the goals coming from the boots of Leo Coffey, Liam Óg Hegarty, and Ryan Jordan. With the hard work done against the wind in the opening half, Kilworth stayed in front of their western divisional opponents to win convincingly on a final scoreline of 3-10 to 1-06.
Team and scorers: Killian Heggtveitt, Gearoid Carey, Kieran Lane, Michael Gowen, David Twomey 0-01, Brian Dunne, Leo Coffey 1-03, Ryan Jordan 1-00, Michael Sheehan, Eoin Carey 0-03, Liam Óg Hegarty 1-00, Aaron Browne 0-02, & Brian Sheehan.
