Kilworth GAA Club Notes 09 April 2026
INTERMEDIATE HURLERS SECURE BACK TO BACK WINS
Last Friday evening, April 3rd, Kilworth’s intermediate hurlers travelled to Bishopstown for their second-round clash in the Red FM sponsored Division 4 Hurling League. Playing with the advantage of a strong breeze in the opening half, Kilworth were first to raise a white flag in what quickly became a tough and physical contest with goal chances aplenty. By the quarter-hour mark, Kilworth had built up a 0-08 to 0-04 lead on their opponent’s, with both sides adding a further three white flags apiece before the interval. Half-time score: Kilworth 0-11, Bishopstown 0-07.
Now facing the breeze, Kilworth hit the ground running after the restart, immediately firing over 1-04 without reply to push their advantage to eleven points, with the goal struck from the stick of half forward William Condon, who finished superbly to give Kilworth a commanding lead. Bishopstown, to their credit, responded strongly and went one better, hitting 1-05 without reply to haul themselves right back into contention. However, Kilworth showed great composure in the closing stages, striking three excellent points to reassert control and see out a hard-fought four point victory in a game which they led from start to finish. Full time score: Kilworth 1-19, Bishopstown 1-15. Referee: Brendan Barry-Murphy, Aghabullogue.
