JUNIOR HURLING LEAGUE

Last Friday evening April 18th, our Junior hurlers were back in action as they travelled to Kildorrery to contest the local contingent in the second round of the Cavanagh’s of Fermoy Division 2 Hurling League. Kilworth who were eager to return to winning ways after going under to Newtownshandrum in their opening round game three weeks ago started well and after 15 minutes played the scoreline was shared equally between the sides. Kildorrery who had a full strength panel for this encounter then hit a purple patch and at the interval the blue and white coloured side held a solid 8 point advantage. Kilworth reduced the deficit back to six points upon the restart but that was an close as they would get in this encounter as the lads from the hill once again dug deep and were worthy winners when Charleville referee Wayne King blew the final whistle. Full time score: Kilworth 2-16, Kildorrery 2-24.

Up next, Kilworth welcome Araglen to the club grounds for the third round clash of the Cavanagh’s of Fermoy Division 2 Hurling League which is currently fixed for next Thursday evening May 01st.

Team: Aaron Browne, Kieran Twomey, John Horgan, Brian Whelan, Gearoid Carey, Sean Shanahan, Brian Dunne, Michael O’Callaghan, Daniel O’Regan, Sean Beecher, Denis Riordan, Liam Óg Hegarty, Thomas Twomey, Sean Keane, & Darragh Sheehan. Substitutes used: Conor White, Jamie Foley, & Kenny Murphy.

STRONG FOUNDATIONS CAMPAIGN

The Strong Foundations campaign, which is being run jointly by Kilworth GAA, Camogie, & LGFA clubs has been in progress over the last 9 weeks and good initial progress has been made with Phase 1 of the building well on track for completion this coming summer. However, this brings with it a significant cash spend, and it would be fantastic to progress straight into Phase 2 with the completion of the upstairs community gym. Having this phase completed would enable a fresh start back to the 2026 season with the facility fully finished and ready for all to benefit. Girls, boys, adults and the local community as a whole will be in a position to benefit immediately from these facilities.

The fundraising committee would love to make a final push over the next few weeks to maximise what they can acquire before the summer months and phase 1 completion, so if you have been meaning to contribute but have been putting it off please don't hesitate to contact any committee member. Circa €1.3 million is being spent on the development this year which is a massive figure that has never been spent on any club project before, which makes every donation vital, and it will make a hugh difference to help with the initial spend and to future loan repayments.

For anyone who wishes to donate please feel free to contact any of the following personnel who will gladly answer any queries that you may have: John Hegarty 086-4081766, Ber Wheeler 087-6179992, Shane Tobin 087-9425635, John Heggtveit 086-8583332, Mairead Lynch 087-3556778 or any Committee Member. KILWORTH JUVENILE GAA CLUB NOTES

U14 FOOTBALL LEAGUE

On Wednesday evening last, April 16th, our U14 footballers hosted St Catherine’s in Round 3 of the East Cork League. It was a lovely evening for football, in Kilworth's newly lined pitch. We started brightly taking some great scores, with some excellent passing movements. This continued for the remainder of the half, and we enjoyed a strong half time lead. We were not as convincing in the second half with St Catherine's dominating for periods of the half, but thankfully we defended well, winning convincingly. Notable scoring contributions on the evening came from the boots of both Paul Óg Philpott and Tadhg Aherne. That’s now five wins on the bounce between hurling and football for this group, who are preparing well for the Championship season ahead. Our next football game is Round 4 of the league, which is currently fixed for Friday May 2nd away to St Vincent’s.
