STRONG FOUNDATIONS CAMPAIGN

The Strong Foundations campaign, which is being run jointly by Kilworth GAA, Camogie, & LGFA clubs has been in progress over the last 9 weeks and good initial progress has been made with Phase 1 of the building well on track for completion this coming summer. However, this brings with it a significant cash spend, and it would be fantastic to progress straight into Phase 2 with the completion of the upstairs community gym. Having this phase completed would enable a fresh start back to the 2026 season with the facility fully finished and ready for all to benefit. Girls, boys, adults and the local community as a whole will be in a position to benefit immediately from these facilities.

The fundraising committee would love to make a final push over the next few weeks to maximise what they can acquire before the summer months and phase 1 completion, so if you have been meaning to contribute but have been putting it off please don't hesitate to contact any committee member. Circa €1.3 million is being spent on the development this year which is a massive figure that has never been spent on any club project before, which makes every donation vital, and it will make a hugh difference to help with the initial spend and to future loan repayments.

For anyone who wishes to donate please feel free to contact any of the following personnel who will gladly answer any queries that you may have: John Hegarty 086-4081766, Ber Wheeler 087-6179992, Shane Tobin 087-9425635, John Heggtveit 086-8583332, Mairead Lynch 087-3556778 or any Committee Member. MEDAL PRESENTATION

Last Saturday evening April 12th at Aherne’s Bar, Kilworth, the club held a medal presentation for the successful 2024 Kilworth Junior hurlers who after a 21 year lapse were last season crowned North Cork Junior B2 Hurling Champions. Special guest on the night was recently retired Garda Denis Motherway who presented the players involved with their winning medals which were unique and specially designed given that 2024 was the Centenary year of Avondhu GAA.

Denis, who played a central role for the same team when winning the 2003 JB2 hurling championship against Charleville was also presented with a retirement gift on the night from the club to recognise all the valued service he gave to Kilworth GAA whilst a member of an Garda Síochána.

It was a great occasion for the panel of players and mentors involved with a fine turnout on the night and special thanks must be given to Justin and all his staff for their help in organising and facilitating this memorable event.

KILWORTH JUVENILE GAA CLUB NOTES

U11 HURLING

Following the postponement of our original fixtures, we took up the invitation from Blarney to take on the mid Cork side in our first U11 Go Games hurling match of the year on Saturday morning last. Blarney had three teams against one from Sam Maguires and two from Kilworth. Our teams played 3 games each, against Blarney. The games were competitive with us improving as the morning progressed and we acquitted ourselves well with a great attitude being shown by all involved. Both Oisín Ryan and Shane Sweetnam were in top form in the scoring stakes whilst a standout moment was Liam Bonner doing his best "Teddy McCarthy" impression to pull a Blarney clearance out of the sky. Keep up the good work boys!

U8 HURLING BLITZ

Our U8’s had their first hurling blitz of the year in Mallow last Saturday 12th April where we had two teams entered. We played some great games against Kildorrery, Clyda, Doneraile & Mallow. The boys showed great skill and teamwork, and the future looks very bright. Well done boys!
