Kilworth GAA Notes - January 7th 2021 2021-01-12 08:42:00

HAPPY NEW YEAR

On behalf of the club I would like to wish all members, players, mentors and supporters a very happy, prosperous and safe New Year. 2020 has been a tough year for many people and I hope the 2021 will start to see improvements for everyone. For now restrictions remain in place, it’s important that we mind each other, remain vigilant, stay safe and let’s hope this 3rd phase is the beginning of the end, with the vaccination taking hold in certain sectors of the population as the most recent restrictions begin to be relaxed. We look forward to the year ahead with hope and enthusiasm and wish all our players, team mentors and teams the very best of luck for 2021.

AGM

Our Club AGM was held virtually online on Wednesday December 16th It was strange to say the least yet gave us the opportunity to look back and review club activities on and off the playing field on a year like no other. Both chairman Liam Kenny and secretary Labhras Flynn spoke in depth about the events of the past year and thanked all those who helped in anyway over the past twelve months. We have many great volunteers who gave their time during the most difficult of years and they were thanked sincerely for what they do for this great club.  Special mention was given to outgoing joint PRO’s Bébhinn Kenneally and Laura Sheehan for their great work in 2020. Both are taking time out to concentrate on their studies, and we wish them all the best with this and hope they stay involved in some shape or form. Treasurer Mossie McNamara provided an in-depth report on the financial affairs of the club for the year.

Chairman then outlined the 3 motions put forward on the night as follows;

Given the year of Covid and difficulties of online meeting we propose the officers are returned in block except for vacated positions for 2021. Proposer Executive.

Given the year of Covid and the knock-on delays to the Development project we propose that the year may be added to the term of office of the Chairman to facilitate same as necessary. Proposer Executive.

Independent Team Kilara Og to be again ratified for 2021 with a special meeting to decide the future strategy to be held ASAP and thereafter ASAP a meeting with Araglen GAA club held to discuss that then agreed strategy. Proposer Kilworth Juvenile GAA Club.

All 3 motions were passed. As a result of Motion 1 all officers were returned in block except for the role of PRO which was vacated. This position of PRO and Assistant PRO were filled over Christmas.

MEMBERSHIP

The GAA have introduced a new online system called Foireann for club membership. The site allows the member greater control in relation to their own information and also ensures compliance with GDPR. For those who completed Covid Health Questionnaires last year for games and training, you will recognise the site. For those who haven’t it is simple enough to navigate.

Firstly, log on to www.foireann.ie. If you used the site last year, your log in details will not have changed. If this is your first time using the site, first click “New User? Register” and follow the directions to first verify your email address and to then create your profile.

Once you are set up on the system you can select which ever membership option suits you. As previously, there are discounted rates for family membership, wives/partners, 3rd and subsequent children, OAPs etc so please take time to ensure you are selecting the best option for you. The system also replaces the older paper form where you were asked your preferences in relation to club communications, use of your/your child’s image in team photos, action shots etc, any medical issues which the club may need to be aware of etc.

The system is now up and running and we would ask that you pay your membership as soon as possible. All players and management teams are to be paid in advance of your return to training / playing games. If you have any queries in relation to the system, please do not hesitate to contact club registrar Alan Kenny (0868536501)

PLAYERS FUNDRAISER

Congratulations to our premier intermediate hurlers on the success of their 7th annual 5k fun run/walk fundraiser. Covid didn’t stop their endeavours and this year’s virtual event held between December 26th and January 4th has been a huge accomplishment. At the time of writing their target set of €3k has been well exceeded. Well done to all and a big thank you to our loyal players, members and supporters who once more were so generous both financially and in terms of time to support the lads.
