U21CFC SF Replay - Kilara Óg 1-08 St. Kevin's 0-16

Kilara Óg and St. Kevin's faced off again on Tuesday night last in the replay of the U21CFC semi-final. The game had a 6.30pm throw-in and similar to the previous game it was St. Kevin's who were first on the score board with two early points from play. They made a great start to the game and could have been further ahead only for a number of wides. Brian Sheehan registered Kilara Óg's first score with a well taken point off his left to reduce the gap to one. Kilara Óg too missed a number of chances to level the game and go ahead. The opposition then tagged on a further two points and at the quarter stage the sides were separated by three points, 0-4 to 0-1. Kilara fought back with points through Eoin Carey and a second from Brian Sheehan to leave the score line 0-4 to 0-3 with five minutes to go until the break. A combination of fouls allowed St. Kevin's to push on again before the half time whistle and and at half time the score line read 0-7 to 0-4.

There was only a score separating the sides heading into the second half but St. Kevin's showed their strength and by the 34th minute it was double scores, 0-10 to 0-5. We struggled throughout the second half to get a foot hold in the game and the further St. Kevin's went ahead, the harder it looked like we were going to make a comeback. Kilara did get a late goal through Brian Sheehan in the final minute of the game but it came too late. The lads tried their best on the night but in the end the better team won out on the score line of 0-16 to 1-08. On behalf of the club we would like to thank the management of Liam Kenny, Pat O' Brien, Tom Twomey Snr, Tom Twomey Jnr and Johnny Lane for the hard work they all put in with the team this year. We were unlucky to miss out on a final spot but this is a young team who will no doubt be back next year.
