1985 FOOTBALLERS REUNION

Next Friday evening, October 3rd, a get together is being held at the Village Inn Kilworth, for the historic 1985 Kilworth football team, to celebrate the 40 year anniversary of claiming the North Cork Junior B league and championship double against Fermoy and Liscarroll respectively. Runners-up in the county final to Duhallow’s Kilbrin, this Kilworth array of players contested seventeen football games in all throughout the season with their only defeat coming in the county final at Mallow which is a tremendous achievement in itself. Please spread the word to everyone of this upcoming event!

KILWORTH JUVENILE GAA CLUB NOTES

U11s Enjoy trip to Ballyhass

The U11s are into the last 4 weeks of a season that started out in mid-February. They have met over 70 times as a group this year including playing 25 games and it has to be said that their attendance and dedication have been fantastic. They love their hurling, football (and handball) and are a great bunch to deal with.

On Saturday last they took a well-deserved break from the playing fields as they made the trip across the division to Ballyhass near Mallow. Zip lining, crate stacking and pizza followed before the highlight of the aqua park to round off a great day out for the entire group. Sincere thanks to Joe & Trish Bonnar and Mark Hickey who along with the clubs covered the cost of the day. Thanks also to the coaches who provided transport to and from Ballyhass.

On field activities have also continued over the last number of weeks, across both codes, with excellent games against Killeagh and Fr O' Neills in hurling, and Killavullen and Fermoy in football. The boys have been improving steadily all year and continue to show a willingness to learn and a great work ethic in training and games. On Sunday next, Fermoy have very kindly invited us to take part in the annual Tom Grumbridge U11 Hurling Memorial Tournament. This has proved to be a very well-run event over the last few of years and the boys are really looking forward to taking part.

Finally, best wishes to Odhran O Donoghue who suffered an injury in training on Thursday evening last. Odhran is a fine young player, and his tigerish attitude will be missed whilst he’s recovering for the next few weeks. Get well soon Odhran.

UPCOMING JUVENILE FIXTURE
