Kilworth GAA Notes 25th March 2021 2021-03-25 09:49:00

REBELS BOUNTY DRAW A HUGE SUCCESS

Sincere thanks to everyone that has supported Kilworth GAA with the Rebels Bounty draw which has been an outstanding success for the club during difficult and uncertain times. At the time of writing we have reached the milestone of 250 ticket sales which is a fantastic achievement. The draw will close at 5pm today (Thursday March 25th) so if you are reading this early and want to be part of the draw go online @WWW.GAACORK.IE/REBELSBOUNTY ASAP.

Thanks to everyone who purchased a ticket and to everyone involved in ensuring we reached our ambitious target. Special thanks to our draw co-ordinator Patsy O’Mahony, treasurer Mossie McNamara and all our sellers. Thanks to Kilworth Camogie Club, Kilworth Juvenile GAA Club, the newly formed Kilworth Ladies football club along with our members of Kilara Og, who enthusiastically got behind this major fundraising opportunity in a time when traditional fundraising has been impacted by restrictions imposed as a result of COVID-19. With all funds raised going directly into our new club development which encompasses construction of a new clubhouse and gym, current and future members of each club and the wider Kilworth community and surrounding areas will benefit from this for years to come.

The draws for January, February and March take place tonight with 90 prizes on offer ranging from €20k for first to €150 for 30th  The County Boards Media Partners @ExaminerSport will broadcast the Draw live from Pairc Ui Chaoimh at 7.30pm. Best of luck to all members entered!

CLUB DEVELOPMENT

Just a quick update on progress of the club development -  A lot of work has been progressing behind the scenes on this and we plan to go out to tender over the summer months with a view to commencing construction before the end of the year. If any member has any questions or queries in relation to the development, please do not hesitate to contact development committee chairman Liam Kenny or Secretary Alan Kenny.

CLUB LOTTO ON THE WAY BACK

With level 5 restrictions due to be reviewed ahead of April 5th and some change expected we plan to resume our club lotto on or around April 12th. While still in a very fluid situation this will be reviewed over the coming weeks factoring in the announcement from government on April 5th. Club lotto has been on hold since late December with the jackpot currently standing at €7,400. Anyone paid up for the lotto prior to its suspension will carry over to the next draw. Keep an eye on our social media platforms and the Avondhu for further updates. As always, we would like to thank you for your ongoing support.

MEMBERSHIP REMINDER

A reminder that club membership can now be paid on line by logging onto www.foireann.ie. If you have any queries in relation to the system, please do not hesitate to contact club registrar Alan Kenny. With the possibility of easing of some restrictions from April 5th  with a focus on outdoor activity and getting children under the age of 18 back to training, it is imperative that all players and management teams are paid members in advance of a return to training.

VOTES OF SYMPATHY

The club would like to extend its deepest sympathy to the Hennessy family Bruff, Co Limerick, the Flynn family Macroney, Kilworth, the Russell family Araglen, and the McGrath family, London following the recent passing of Bridget Hennessy. Bridget formerly of Macroney was a sister of former club chairman Lar Flynn, aunt of former chairman and current assistant secretary and county board delegate Fergus and aunt of current club runai Labhras. May she rest in peace.

CLUB HISTORY

One of the few positives to come out of this pandemic is that it has given us the chance to look back to our past and at the great men and women who did so much to put our club on the map in the early years. With social media and the internet, recent history has been captured however, we would like to fill in some of the blanks from the second half of the last century in particular. If anyone has old programmes, team sheets, paper cuttings, club records etc, we would be most grateful if you could pass them on to any club officer. Any items offered will be treated with care and will be returned to their owners. We plan to continue with our historic pieces over the coming weeks.
