KILWORTH GAA NOTES 10th Decmeber 2019 2019-12-10 13:02:00

WONDERFUL NIGHT CELEBRATING WITH PATSY AND CO

Last Friday night, a large group of us made our way back to the Hibernian Hotel in Mallow to proudly celebrate with our own Patsy O’Mahony and his family as he was inducted into the Avondhu ‘Hall of Fame’ at this year’s Avondhu GAA Social. We had a fantastic night as we witnessed Patsy receive his award in front of a very deserving standing ovation. Patsy, as always, was very humble on acceptance of this award, only the third ever Kilworth man to receive this honour and he spoke wonderfully, thanking everyone and forgetting no one. Everyone who was there thoroughly enjoyed the occasion and we were very lucky to be part of such a special night for Patsy, a man we are lucky to call one of our own.

Patsy known through the county of Cork through his vast experience in administration roles serving for an amazing 25 years as the Treasurer of the North Cork board from 1986 to 2010 and then moving to the position of treasurer of the Coiste na Og Cork a role he continues to hold today. He also served as registrar of the NC Board as well as serving in various roles in our club including Treasurer and PRO. On the playing field he won u14 in 59 u16 in 1961. Patsy won U21 medals in 1965 &1967 captaining the ‘67 team. He won Junior league & championship in 1966 and NC and County in 67. A fantastic clubman to this day he rarely misses a meeting or an event and the amount of money he has fundraised for the GAA locally and beyond over the years must run to millions!

We hope you enjoyed your night Patsy and we look forward to having another night in the village in the new year. The North Cork Board will travel to Kilworth to present Patsy with the newest version of the award after Christmas and we’ll make sure that it’s another big night, with an even bigger Kilworth crowd present. We will keep you posted on the details of this event as they emerge. Well done again Patsy on your incredibly deserving award. It was a proud night for you, your family and for everyone associated with Kilworth GAA. Kilworth Abú!
