ONLY ONE PLACE TO BE THIS SUNDAY! 2017-04-25 09:33:00

The long wait is nearly over. The highly anticipated clash between two local rivals and arch enemies on the pitch is just around the corner. This Sunday, April 30th there is only one place to be when the clock strikes 3.30pm and that’s Ballyhooley GAA pitch where Kilworth and Fermoy will face off in the opening round of the Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship once again. I’m sure we don’t need reminding that we met at this exact same stage last year and what a game it turned out to be in Kildorrery on a fresh Saturday evening. That game was ours for the taking, leading by five points with two minutes left on the clock but it fell through our finger tips in the dying stages. The pain of that defeat remained with the people of Kilworth for a long time and we certainly don’t want a repeat of it this coming Sunday. There is no doubt this will be another tough, tight encounter between two teams who will do everything they can to win. Fermoy contested the final last year only to be defeated by Bandon and they will be looking to go one step further this year. Kilworth will be looking to kick start this year’s championship with a win over the men in black and amber after we have failed to win a first round game since we joined the grade in 2013.

This is a huge game for our club. Everyone knows about, everyone is talking about it and now we need everyone to come out and support our lads in Ballyhooley on Sunday. Get decked out in your red and white colours, bring the whole family. Tell everyone you know! We want to hear you roaring from the banks and from the stand on Sunday! This team have been training and working very hard in preparation for this game since the draw was made late last year so they deserve our support! We want the village to be a ghost town on Sunday at 3.30pm. We want everyone who can to make their way to this exciting clash between two teams who do not want to lose. On behalf of the club we would like to wish the very best of luck to all the players and the management of Pat Greehy, Alan Kenny, Will Twomey, Dion Cahill and Darren Kenny involved in this game on Sunday. We are all fully behind you and here’s hoping that we will all have broad smiles on our faces when the final whistle is blown on Sunday! Kilworth Abú!
