Kilworth GAA Notes 13th May 2021 2021-05-16 17:48:00

SUMMER ROADMAP TAKES SHAPE

With adult training resuming this week and following the recent County Championship draws the County Board have issued a draft master fixture plan for 2021. Due to the shortened season League cup competitions with replace the Club Leagues for 2021 with the hurling league commencing on June 13th with games played every second weekend with the final scheduled for early August. The league Cup competitions grades are based mainly on two groups of four, with the top two teams in each group qualifying for the semi-final stage. These competitions will have no impact on league gradings for 2022, which will instead revert to 2020 positions. Groups for the league cups were based on previous league positions , with modifications added to avoid clubs meeting in both league and championship. Kilworth are in group 3B along with Courcey Rovers, Fr O’Neill’s and Charleville. Some interesting games here and good preparation for championship which is scheduled to commence the weekend of August 27th to 29th. Kilworth will face Ballincollig in the opening group game followed by games against Aghada and Ballinhassig. While this plan is yet to be ratified players and management have dates to work towards and its fantastic to have a programme of games to look forward to over the coming weeks and months.

ALL IRELAND U20 FINAL

The All Ireland U20 hurling final for 2020 has been confirmed for the 10th/11th of July. Cork await the winners of Galway and Dublin in the decider. While a long wait since December for Cork and our own Eoin Carey they now have a definite date to plan towards.
