Kilworth GAA Notes 24/02/2020

Senior hurling league off to promising start

D2HL result – Kilworth 1:15, Carrigtwohill 0:18.

Last Sunday saw our hurlers play their first league match as Seniors away to Carrigtwohill. This was an exciting day for the club to play our first game as Seniors. After 5 minutes of neither side scoring, Eoin Carey scored 2 points for Kilworth a minute apart. Noel McNamara, Liam Whelan and Will Condon all got their name on the score sheet which ensured we were up a point to the score of 0:10 – 0:09 when the half time whistle blew.

Carrigtwohill scored the first point of the second half which put the teams at level for the first time of the match. A goal from Sean Keane put us in the lead, followed by a point from Eoin bringing his tally to 6 for the day and a point from Paddy Moakely. We now had a five point advantage. However, Carrigtwohill made sure we did not get comfortable and scored points in quick succession. Sean, Liam and Paddy popped over more scores for Kilworth to keep the tight lead. The last few minutes of the game saw Carrigtwohill claw their way back onto the scoreboard. At fulltime all was square. Well done to the team, management and all involved, we look forward to what the rest of the season holds. Kilworth Abú!
